The meeting of the Council of Common Interests under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has started today in which the census report will be presented.
The meeting is being held at the Prime Minister’s House, which includes the ministers of the four provinces and the officers of other departments, including the Statistical Institute, and the new census report will be presented in this meeting.
Apart from this, in this meeting, the Bureau of Statistics will provide a briefing to the Council of Interests regarding the census, after which it will be decided whether the elections in Pakistan will be conducted according to the new census or not.
Let us tell you that according to the results of digital census 2023, the election may be delayed and the date of election may be moved further.
Along with this, the former Secretary Election Commission while talking to Geo News said that if the CCI allows the census to be conducted, the election will be held in 2024, but if seen, the new digital census will be held on the recommendations of the Council of Common Interests. When a Gazetted notification is issued regarding the enumeration, the Election Commission under sub-section 5 of Article 15 of the Constitution is bound to conduct elections in the country.
Let us also tell you that the former government has also agreed to hold elections in the country under the 2023 census and this was decided in the 2021 Common Interests Council which was chaired by Imran Khan.
In which the PTI chairman made it clear that the elections to be held in 2023 will be conducted under the new census and after completing the seventh census, data will be provided to the Election Commission to finalize the constituencies.
