The new Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Muneer, not only got married in Toba Tek Singh, but his mother also belongs to Toba Tek Singh.
Syed Dawar Hussain’s father, Syed Muhammad Hussain Shah, was a resident of Mohalla Eidgah of late Toba Tek Singh and was involved in the truck depot business.
One of his daughters was married to Syed Muneer Hussain and General Asim is his son. His family had sold their house to the retired Superintendent of DC Office Malik Azhar Rasheed Advocate.
His second daughter was married to the late retired DSP Mir Syed Afzal Shah of Mohalla Janjghar late Barrister Syed Ghulam Abbas Jafari whose daughter is married to General Asim.
A sister of General Asim was also married to Pakistan Air Force Wing Commander Syed Tabasim Abbas Shah in Toba Tek Singh, but Syed Tabasim Abbas Shah along with Air Vice Marshal Mushaf Mir and other Air Force officers were involved in the famous plane crash in 2003. He was martyred in the accident and General Asim’s wife became a widow.
