Tik Tok was earlier considered a threat to Facebook and its owned apps, but now it has emerged as a rival to Google’s video sharing site YouTube.
The app that children and teenagers spend the most time on throughout the day is none other than Tik Tok.
According to a report in June 2020, for the first time Tik Tok surpassed YouTube and at that time people under the age of 18 spent an average of 82 minutes on Tik Tok per day compared to 75 minutes on YouTube.
But in 2022, the gap widened and children and youth under the age of 18 spent an average of 107 minutes a day on Tik Tok, compared to 67 minutes on YouTube.
Tik Tok beats YouTube as well as other video apps like Netflix in this regard.
Similarly, Tik Tok has overtaken social media apps like Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter in this regard.
According to the report, the total time spent watching video content by children under the age of 18 increased by 18% during 2022.
It should be noted that Tik Tok’s popularity among children and youth has forced other technology companies to introduce short video sections as well.
YouTube introduced YouTube shorts to compete with TikTok, which has reached 50 billion daily views.
Instagram introduced a short videos section called Reel.
